Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad contrast between the 1950 farm and its present-day use, including the former sheep area becoming a camping field and the addition of parking, a farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the overview is vague (“some changes happened”) and does not clearly summarise the main pattern: the farm retains its fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable areas, while new visitor facilities and energy infrastructure have been introduced. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: the solar panels are in the north-east, not simply on the former sheep area, and the barn’s relocation is mentioned without explaining where it was before and where it is now. Develop the key changes more precisely and compare locations consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic sequence, using “Firstly,” “The other changes” and “Finally,” and it moves from the northern area to other parts of the farm. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, the progression is not always clear because phrases such as “the other side of the areo of solar panel” and “the other side of vegetables garden” do not establish which locations are being compared. Several ideas are crowded into long sentences, while the overview does not provide a clear organising summary. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main location-based comparisons, and refer to features by name rather than relying on vague expressions such as “the other side.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “parking areas,” “fruit trees,” “holiday cottage” and “farm house,” so the reader can identify several changes. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations make the description difficult to follow. For example, “the placement of some plans are changed” does not naturally describe changes to a site, and “chickens shade” is not the appropriate term for the labelled enclosure. “Changed nicely” is also subjective rather than suitable for an objective report. Choose precise terms such as “features,” “relocated,” “enclosure” and “introduced,” and use consistent labels for the farm’s areas and buildings.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a contrast with “however” and a sequence introduced by “Finally.” Nevertheless, errors in sentence structure and verb forms are frequent and sometimes obscure the relationships between features. For example, “Overall there some changes happened” lacks a correctly formed verb, while “previously there had fruit trees” uses an unsuitable construction. Agreement and articles are also problematic in “the same thing have” and “a farm house.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise forming clear past-versus-present comparisons, such as “In 1950, this area contained…, whereas today it is used for…,” and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
