Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response identifies several genuine changes, including the addition of parking, a camping field, solar panels and holiday cottages, and notes that the track became a road. However, it only minimally summarises the plans and does not give a clear, factual overview of the site’s main transformation. The opening incorrectly dates the earlier plan as “1980” rather than 1950, and the later comments that the farm “should” have grown more and needed more animals are personal opinions, not features shown by the maps. Sheep are indeed absent today, but this should be reported neutrally as a change. To improve, describe the main changes accurately and compare the two layouts without judging whether the development was good or sufficient.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic sequence from the earlier plan to the present-day site, and phrases such as “in 1950” and “in today side” signal the time periods. However, the response is not arranged into clear paragraphs, and the ideas move abruptly from listing map features to evaluating whether the farm should have developed more. The opening lines (“we will comparisons and see if it wa relevant”) do not establish a useful direction, while the final sentence is difficult to connect to the factual description. Group the information into an introduction, an overview, and one or two paragraphs comparing changes. Use clear links such as “By contrast” or “In addition” to show relationships between features.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses some relevant map vocabulary, including “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “vegetables,” “parking,” “camping fields,” “solar panels” and “holiday cottages.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the changes. However, the range is repetitive and several expressions are imprecise or informal, such as “sheep side,” “track to walk” and “small road.” Frequent spelling errors, including “infromation,” “devlopment” and “relevent,” also make the writing less clear. Choose precise terms for locations and map features, and check spelling carefully. Avoid conversational wording and use neutral language appropriate to describing a plan.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “from 1950 to today in have grown so mcuh but shold have grown more,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to follow. There are recurring problems with verb forms and sentence construction, as in “we will comparisons,” and the opening lacks a clear grammatical clause. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or incorrectly used, which affects clarity in phrases such as “in today side.” Most sentences rely on simple listing rather than a controlled range of structures. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then use accurate past and present forms to compare the two plans.
