Student answer (Band 5.5)
The images provided illustrates the map of Beechwood Farm from seventy six years ago and organized today.
Overall, these maps show the comparison between same spots occured with time, although the area remain the same but some slight differences occurs over the decades of time like installation of solar panels, parking space and converting a walking track to a road in new plan.
In first picture of the farm shows a road on left corner and river passing by the end, a large space occupied by the sheeps opposite the fruit trees, soft fruits, vegetables , farmhouse, barn while the walk track remains in the across the farm.
The Today's image presents the Farm looklike now, alot of new modification occurs in this era for example the facilities of parking, solarization, building of road, holiday cottages prepared. while the rest of part remain the as it was in 1950. These were the changes in plam from 1950 to till now.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad change from a farm to a site with added facilities, mentioning solar panels, parking, a road and holiday cottages. You also refer to the river and several original farm features. However, the overview is vague: saying there are “some slight differences” understates the changes, and the claim that the rest “remain[s] as it was” is inaccurate. The sheep area is replaced by a camping field and solar panels, while the farmhouse and barn are repositioned relative to the new road and cottages. Several important details, including the farm shop and the changed road layout, are not clearly described. To strengthen the report, give a precise overview and compare the main land-use changes and retained features.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a basic overall structure: an opening, a general overview, and separate descriptions of the earlier and current plans. This makes the broad sequence understandable. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven, and the descriptions often become lists rather than clearly organised comparisons. For example, the first-plan sentence groups the sheep, crops, farmhouse and barn together without explaining their positions, while the final paragraph moves from new facilities to the claim that other parts remain unchanged. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In the first picture,” and “while” help connect ideas, but some links are mechanical or unclear. Organise details by area or by what changed and what remained, and use clearer references between the two plans.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing maps, including “river,” “fruit trees,” “solar panels,” “parking space” and “holiday cottages.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the site’s features. However, the range is limited, and several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “walking track,” “solarization,” “new modification” and “the Farm looklike now.” Spelling and word-form problems, including “plam” and “sheeps,” also reduce precision. Aim to use standard map-description terms and accurate collocations, such as “footpath,” “installation of solar panels,” and “the farm has been redeveloped.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish the site’s different roads, fields and buildings.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast with “although” and a comparison using “while.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in agreement, articles, tense and sentence construction sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “The images provided illustrates” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “the area remain the same” also needs agreement. The phrase “In first picture of the farm shows” is not a complete, correctly formed sentence, while “These were the changes in plam from 1950 to till now” has an awkward time construction. Practise forming clear subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement and tense.
