Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the two time periods and mention several relevant changes, including the addition of a farm shop, camping field, holiday cottages, solar panels and two parking areas. You also note that the barn has changed location. However, the account is only partial: the overview is not clearly stated, and some key spatial relationships are vague or inaccurate. For example, the sheep area is replaced by the camping field and solar panels occupy the north-east corner, but the description does not clearly explain these changes. The 1950 layout is also difficult to reconstruct from phrases such as “one river runs to the opposite track.” To improve, give a concise overview of the main transformation, then compare the locations and retained features accurately.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic time-based structure: one paragraph describes 1950 and another focuses on today, followed by a short concluding list. This gives the reader some sense of the comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is weak, and the final paragraph repeats features already listed rather than adding a clear summary. Linking phrases such as “on the other hand” and “compared to” are attempted, but their relationships are not always clear. Several ideas run together, for example the sequence about the road, cottages, parking and solar panels. Organise the report into a clear introduction, an overview, and two logically ordered comparison paragraphs, using location-based links such as “to the north” and “whereas.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “fruit trees,” “soft fruits,” “camping field,” “holiday cottages,” “parking” and “solar panels.” This shows a basic ability to name map features and changes. However, the range is limited, and repeated or inaccurate expressions sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “instructed today” and “the place of sheeps” do not communicate the intended map information naturally; spelling errors such as “beachwood,” “tress” and “haand” also reduce clarity. Build a more precise set of verbs for describing plans, such as “is located,” “was replaced by,” and “was converted into,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to form longer sentences and make comparisons, but sentence structures are often incomplete or difficult to control. For example, “The beachwood farm in 1950 has some few features such as Fruit trees near by the road” has problems with tense, article use and sentence construction. In “near the holiday cottages the parking and the solar panels installes,” the clause lacks a correctly formed verb. Errors with plurals and agreement also appear in “sheeps.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with full stops and spaces interrupting phrases. Use straightforward complete sentences first, with a clear subject and verb, and keep past-tense forms for 1950 and present-tense forms for today. Then practise combining these accurately with “while” or “whereas.”
