Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main change from sheep grazing to a camping field and note that the river and the three crop areas remain broadly in place. You also mention new solar panels, a farm shop and holiday cottages, so the response includes several relevant comparisons. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: the 1950 chicken enclosure is described as a “chicken shop,” and the barn is said to have changed into cottages, although the barn remains and the cottages are added nearby. The overview is also limited; it would be clearer to state that the farm has diversified while retaining its agricultural areas. Describe the locations and changes more precisely, including the two parking areas and the farmhouse, to develop the comparison more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a basic overall structure, moving from the 1950 plan to the present-day layout, and the opening “Overall” signals an attempt to summarise the main picture. The sequence is generally understandable, but the first paragraph combines several locations in a long run of statements, while the second shifts between changes and unchanged features without a clear order. Connectors such as “while” and “In contrast” are used, but some do not express the relationship accurately. For example, the final contrast introduces features that have stayed in the same place rather than a contrasting change. Group information by area or by what changed and what remained, and use clearer references to help readers follow each comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “river,” “grazing,” “located,” “installed” and “constructed,” which helps communicate the layout and its changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. “Chicken shop” misidentifies the chicken enclosure, “softdrinks” does not name the soft-fruit area, and “beachwood” and “farrm” are misspelled. Repetition of “located,” “constructed” and “area” also makes the description less precise. Use the labels from the plan accurately and vary location language with phrases such as “to the east of,” “adjacent to” and “remained in place.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer comparisons, including “while vegetables, softdrinks and fruit trees were located…” and “In contrast, fruit trees… are on same place…”. However, the longer constructions are often faulty, and errors in tense, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries recur. Examples include “the river were,” “the solar panels is installed,” and “are on same place”; the opening also ends with an unnecessary question mark. Keep the past tense for the 1950 plan and use the present tense for today, checking subject–verb agreement and articles. More accurate sentence patterns, such as “The river remained in the same position, while the sheep field was converted into a camping area,” would make the comparisons easier to read.
