Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the two time periods and report several relevant changes, including the removal of the sheep area, the addition of solar panels and a camping field, and the conversion of the former barn area to holiday cottages. However, the overview is unclear and does not summarise the main pattern of change. Some details are inaccurate or confusing: the farm shop is between the fruit trees and the internal road, rather than simply “in west side where fruit trees” were; the barn remains on the site, although its position changes; and the farmhouse and chicken enclosure remain in broadly the same locations. The claim that soft fruits and vegetables show “no change” overlooks their altered arrangement and surrounding access. A clearer overview and more precise comparisons would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: you begin with an introduction and overview, then move to details about the northern and eastern parts of the farm. This gives the reader a basic sense of the comparison. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several changes are packed into long, loosely connected sentences. For example, the sentence beginning “Beside the solar panel” moves from camping to trees and then to parking without clearly identifying each location or comparison. Linking phrases such as “In contrast” are used, but the contrast that follows is not always clear. Group the information by area or by what stayed and what changed, and use shorter sentences with clear references to the 1950 and present-day plans.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “northeastern part,” “camping field,” “farm shop,” and “holiday cottages,” so the reader can recognise many of the features being compared. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “Ovearll,” “tranck,” “woking track,” and “soft fruitd.” Some expressions are not natural for describing maps: “road is constructed instead of track” and “parking is adjacent to road” need more precise phrasing. Use standard map vocabulary such as “was replaced by,” “was converted into,” “to the north of,” and “remained unchanged,” checking spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and more extended sentences, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between features unclear. Examples include “this site undergo so many change,” “sheep was in the north side,” and “Holiday cottages is introduce,” where tense, agreement, and sentence structure are not controlled. Articles and prepositions are also often missing or inaccurate, as in “in west side” and “beside the road.” The comparison of past and present requires consistent past and present forms, for example, “The sheep area was removed, while solar panels have been added.” Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine them with clear clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
