Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two maps as a comparison between 1950 and today and mention several relevant features, including the river, fruit trees, vegetables, and the newer farm shop and holiday cottages. However, the overview is inaccurate: saying that “very few things are chang” overlooks substantial redevelopment. The former sheep area is now used for parking, camping, and solar panels, while the farm’s tracks have become roads and new visitor facilities have been added. Some details are also unclear or imprecise, such as “the previous tracks are now became small roads.” To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of the main changes, then describe the key features and their locations accurately, including what has remained unchanged.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the maps, describes the earlier farm, and then turns to changes today. This gives the reader some sense of progression, and phrases such as “In past” and “At first” attempt to guide the discussion. However, the organisation is not consistently clear. The opening sentence is difficult to follow, and the final paragraph combines several changes without a clear order or precise links between them. References such as “their” and “the area” are also not always easy to connect to a specific feature. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and the main comparisons, and organise details by location or by what changed and stayed the same.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a farm and its development, including “river,” “fruit trees,” “vegetables,” “parking,” “camping field,” and “holiday cottages.” These terms help communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited, and frequent spelling errors—such as “fild,” “seence,” “begganing,” and “viggitors”—make the writing harder to read. Several word choices or phrases are also inaccurate or unnatural, including “flowing information,” “ments for a farm land,” and “main attraction.” Aim for precise map-description language, such as “site,” “was used for,” “was replaced by,” and “is located,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example, “As we discribe in the begganing their very few things are chang in the fild.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction frequently obscure meaning. Examples include “there include two maps,” “It's also include,” “Their was a highway road,” and “the previous tracks are now became.” The response relies mainly on simple statements and does not yet show reliable control of more varied structures. Practise accurate past and present forms when comparing the maps, and build sentences around clear subjects and verbs—for example, “The sheep area has been replaced by a camping field and parking.”
