Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the broad change from a working farm to a site with visitor facilities, and you note that the farmhouse and chickens remain in the same area. You also mention the camping field, solar panels, holiday cottages and roads, which are relevant developments. However, the overview is unclear and includes the inaccurate claim that the fruit trees remain in the same location: the farm shop is new, while the fruit-tree area is broadly retained. Some comparisons are also mislocated; the barn is not simply “above” the farmhouse today, and the second parking area is beside the eastbound road, not near the farm shop. Select the main changes more precisely and describe their positions clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has an identifiable overall structure: an opening, an overview and two body paragraphs. Sequencing phrases such as “To begin with,” “Moreover” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to guide the reader through the comparison. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because locations and changes are presented in a fragmented order, and some references are unclear—for example, “that locate south direction” does not make clear which feature is meant. Connect related changes by area or feature, and use clear references such as “the barn” or “the eastern road.” The linking words are sometimes mechanical or misplaced, so prioritise logical grouping over adding more connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “farmhouse,” “soft fruits,” “camping field,” “parking area” and “solar panels,” and you attempt to describe change with “redevelopment” and “reconstruct.” However, the range is limited and several word forms, spellings and collocations make the description difficult to understand, such as “redevolpment,” “fruit rees,” “parking bilud” and “chikens.” Phrases such as “live in the same place” are not natural for describing map features; use “remain in the same location.” Build a reliable set of verbs for map changes—“was replaced by,” “was converted into” and “was added”—and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and comparisons, including “whereas in present…” and “while vegetables and fruit…”; this shows some effort to vary sentence forms. However, errors in sentence construction and basic grammar are frequent and sometimes obscure the intended relationships. For example, “The map illustrate” lacks subject–verb agreement, while “fruit trees located” and “parking area locate” omit the required verb form. Articles and tense are also inconsistent, as in “in 1950 fruit trees located” and “in present that locate south direction.” Use complete past-tense clauses for 1950 and present-tense clauses for today, with a clear subject and verb in each sentence. Check punctuation, especially the unnecessary full stop after “observed that.”
