Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The two maps compare the layout of the beechwood farm site during 1950 and today site.
Overall, it is clearly seem that the sheep farm is considerably change to camping field, solar panels area, and parking. While soft fruits and vegetables locations are on the same place.
In 1950, the most of the area was accounted to sheeps. whereas opposite of sheep were distributed into three section like fruit trees, soft fruits and vegetables. In addition on the south-east side there were chickens farm, farmhouse and barn. Moreover the track led from north-west to south-east, also had triangle shped track in the middle of total area.
in today's world, the overall layout experienced significant changes. The sheep farm is completely converted into three distinct areas, similarly camping field and solar panel, and the two parking sites, one is orth side and another one is on south side. Furthermore the tract is changed to strong road. Moreover barn is shifted to the south edge of trangle shaped road, and holiday cottages replaced the barn. While the chickens site and farmhouse are in the same location, where they were in 1950.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main transformation from a sheep area to new uses, and note that the fruit, soft-fruit and vegetable plots remain broadly in place. You also report several relevant changes, including the addition of camping, solar panels, parking and holiday cottages. However, some details are unclear or inaccurate: the sheep area is not converted into “three distinct areas” alone, and the barn is not simply shifted to the southern edge; it remains near the road junction while the cottages occupy the former barn area. The claim that the farmhouse and chicken area are in the same location is broadly supported. To make the account more complete, describe the new road layout and locate the shop and camping field more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate descriptions of the two periods. This helps the reader follow the comparison, and phrases such as “In 1950” and “in today’s world” signal the time shift. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly where several features are compressed into one sentence. “Whereas opposite of sheep were distributed into three section” does not clearly explain the plots’ positions, and the final paragraph moves between the road, barn, cottages and unchanged buildings without a consistent spatial route. Some linking words, including “Moreover” and “While,” feel mechanical or create incomplete contrasts. Organise each map from one side of the site to the other and use clearer references.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant map vocabulary, including “layout,” “converted,” “parking,” “solar panels,” “holiday cottages” and “triangle shaped,” so the reader can understand the main changes. There is also an attempt to vary wording with expressions such as “considerably change” and “significant changes.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, including “sheep farm” for the sheep area, “chickens farm,” “strong road,” and “tract” for track. Spelling and word-form errors such as “shped” and “orth” also reduce precision. Aim for standard collocations and accurate labels from the map, such as “the area used for sheep” and “the track was upgraded to a road.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and more complex forms, including contrast clauses with “While” and sequencing with “Moreover.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors make individual statements unclear. For example, “it is clearly seem” has an incorrect verb construction, while “the sheep farm is considerably change” uses the wrong verb form. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries in “the most of the area was accounted to sheeps. whereas…” and “one is orth side and another one is on south side.” Work on past-tense descriptions for 1950, present-tense descriptions for today, and complete, correctly punctuated sentences. These improvements would make your comparisons more controlled.
