Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad change from a farm to a more developed site and note that the river remains unchanged. However, the overview is unclear: the sheep area is not simply developed; it now contains a camping field and solar panels, while the former sheep area is not accurately located in your description. Several key changes are misreported. The fruit-tree area remains, and the farm shop is added beside it; the farmhouse was not built in that area. The barn and farmhouse remain, while holiday cottages are added nearby. The soft-fruit and vegetable plots also remain, but the response does not clearly describe their positions. The response is 141 words, below the required 150, and the limited, partly inaccurate coverage leaves the task only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an overview followed by details, and linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “In addition” help signal progression. However, the description does not follow a clear spatial route through the plans, so relationships between features are difficult to follow. For example, “on the south right side of the road” and “at the bottom of the road” do not establish precise locations, and the final sentence combines several separate comparisons. Some connections are also unclear, particularly “whereas” before the statement about the fruit trees and river. Group the changes by area and use clear references such as “to the north-east” or “south of the farmhouse” to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing maps, including “camping field,” “parking area,” “holiday cottages,” and “remained unchanged.” This gives the response a basic range of task-related terms. However, word choice and spelling errors are frequent enough to make some descriptions unclear: “strategy” is unsuitable for “plans,” “rive” is misspelled, and “modren” and “uncanged” are also inaccurate. Phrases such as “construct solar panel system” and “changed the track line into roads” are awkward or imprecise. Aim for accurate map vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “install solar panels,” “convert tracks into roads,” and “the area was redeveloped.” Proofread spelling and avoid repeating “area” when a more precise feature name is available.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in “the sheep area become more developed” and “the area which were more developed,” while “it replace the barn” and “it also make farm house” use incorrect verb forms. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also weak: the final sentence joins several ideas with “whereas” without a clear structure, and the opening contains duplicated words (“of of”). Articles and possessives are often missing or misplaced, as in “construct solar panel system” and “i thier next.” Use past simple consistently for changes between 1950 and today, and separate each comparison into a complete sentence. These frequent errors sometimes make the intended relationships difficult to understand.
