Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several major changes, including the former sheep area becoming a camping field, the addition of solar panels and parking, and the introduction of a farm shop and holiday cottages. You also note that the river, farmhouse and chicken area remain. However, the comparison is only partly developed: the overview is unclear, and some details are inaccurate or confusing. The barn is described as having changed location, although it remains on the site; the plans show it in a different position relative to the farmhouse and road layout. The claim that the farm “has look modern” in 1950 also conflicts with your later description of its transformation. The response is three words below the required minimum. A clearer overview and more precise descriptions of the site’s changes would make the summary more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has separate paragraphs and uses basic signposting such as “Overall,” “However,” and “Moving on,” so there is some organisation. Nevertheless, the progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph repeats changes already mentioned in the overview, while the final paragraph introduces the farm shop and road change without a clear connection to the earlier points. Several sentences run together or lack clear links, for example, “Also the track name changed into road that was dramatically changed.” Use one paragraph for the overall picture, then organise the details by area or by what remained versus what changed. More accurate linking and clearer sentence boundaries would help the reader follow the comparison.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant map vocabulary, including “camping field,” “solar panels,” “parking area,” “holiday cottages,” and “river,” which helps communicate the main topic. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. For example, “the sheep area demolished” is not a natural way to describe a land-use change, and “farm shop separately derived” does not clearly express that a shop was added. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “feild,” “separetly,” “descov ered” (written as “descovered”), and “dramatically.” Aim for precise map language such as “was replaced by,” “was added,” and “remained unchanged,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt longer sentences and use some passive forms, such as “sheep area converted into camping field,” but grammatical control is weak and sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty. The opening, “The plans illustrates,” has subject–verb disagreement, while “Overall, the significant changes noted in Beechwood Farm” is a fragment without a main verb. Articles and verb forms are also frequently missing or incorrect, as in “the farm has look modern” and “farm shop is developed in present.” Punctuation and spacing further obscure sentence boundaries. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past and present forms consistently when comparing the two plans. A few accurate simple sentences would improve clarity before adding complex structures.
