Student answer (Band 5.5)

Countries present on equator line or under the tropic of cancer and tropic of capricon have long and higher temperature summer seasons because rays of sun pointing toward the earth in direct angle. So in these countries education department allows primary and secondary schools closed for two months to protect childrens from harmful radiations of sun and sultry.

To begin with, summer in this region is quit hot and dry. Students from primary and secondry schools are very young mostly belongs to age group of five to twelve years. They don't have enough abilty to deal with higher temperature of 45 or above degree. For example countries like Pakistan, India and Bangladesh have very sultry and muggay air and even an adult can't survive in this environment, so instead of sending their children to schools long summer hoildays are good.

Moreover, although summer holidays are bennifical for students but not too much. Like children loose their focus and intrest from studies and involves in other activites. In my opinion vacations were not more then two months and after that department should set a suitable school's timing for children and create a manageable environment. Furthermore, they can give weekly homework and if possible arrange online classes in that way they can balance and fix this long schools holidays problem.

In conclusion, months such as june july have very hard and hummidate environment and this is very dangerous for younger one's but too lenghty vacations also put bad impact on students nature like they feel lazy and involves in others activites such as sports or became disobedient as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions and maintain a relevant position: long holidays are valuable in very hot climates, but excessively long breaks can weaken students’ engagement. The examples of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh help explain the heat-related argument. However, the value of holidays is discussed mainly as protection from high temperatures; other benefits, such as rest, family time or opportunities for independent activities, are not explored. The case for shorter holidays is also less fully developed: you mention loss of focus and suggest homework or online classes, but do not explain clearly how shorter breaks would improve learning or suit students and families. Develop these points with specific reasoning and examples to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, two body paragraphs signalled by “To begin with” and “Moreover,” and a conclusion. The main ideas generally follow a sensible order: first the reason for long holidays, then concerns about their duration. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear. For example, the final body paragraph moves from students losing interest to vacation length, then homework and online classes without fully connecting these suggestions. The conclusion repeats earlier points rather than bringing the two sides together. Use clearer topic sentences and link each supporting detail explicitly to the paragraph’s main claim; vary linking expressions so the organisation feels less formulaic.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some topic-relevant vocabulary, including “harmful radiations,” “higher temperature,” “focus,” and “manageable environment,” and the reader can generally understand your main points. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make meaning less clear: “sultry and muggay air,” “bennifical,” “intrest,” and “hummidate environment” appear in key parts of the response. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “countries present on equator line” and “long and higher temperature summer seasons.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning common collocations for climate and education. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish the benefits of a break from the disadvantages of an extended one.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “because” and a contrast introduced by “although.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence construction, agreement and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “Students … mostly belongs” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “children loose their focus … and involves” shifts incorrectly between plural and singular forms. The opening sentence is also difficult to follow because its clause structure is incomplete or awkwardly joined. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking agreement and tense. More accurate control of these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
