Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, many schools in different countries close for two months or more during summer holidays. Some people believe that long school holidays are beneficial for students but other believes that shorter holidays would be better. This will discuss both advantages and arguments of having a long school holidays.
In many countries, people face climate change. So the weather become extremelt hot in some countries. This is the main reason why students have long holidays in some countries. In some schools, there is no electricity, so kids have to learn and study in hot environment. As a reult, they get sick and they don't pay attention to their studies. That is why there are long holidays in some countries. But the students should also not waste his time. He/she should spend time on studies. Because many of the students feel very happy and exicted for their long holidays. And they spend their holidays in playing. So this shoild not be happen. Because it is a very valuable oppertunity that you can spend on your studies according to your choice. For example, if someone is not paying attention to their studies while in school or in a class. So he should pay attention to it, because if he will not pay attention, then he will get failed. A students should set a time table and as well as he should spend time on playing and other activities.
In my childhood, i use to live with my cousins. We spend much time talking as well as on studies. It was a very golden time of life. We feel very exicted at the last day of school. And then after going home al i use to do was packing and then i go to my cousins house and spend my time with them and we make a lot of memories.
In my opion, it is better to have long holidays that are very hotter country. So the students will study at home as well as a break is much needed. And then will spend time with their siblings, other friends, family and cousins.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the topic and give a clear preference for long holidays in the conclusion, with a relevant point about extreme heat and schools without electricity. However, the response only partly answers the two questions: the value of long holidays is discussed mainly through avoiding hot classrooms and personal memories, while the arguments for shorter holidays are not clearly explained. The warning that students may waste time is relevant, but it is not developed into a clear case for shorter breaks, such as maintaining learning routines or reducing the need to review forgotten material. Several points, including the childhood anecdote, are not connected to the task’s comparison. Develop both sides with specific reasons and examples, then make your position consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some paragraphing, and the response moves from an introduction to reasons, a personal example, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is difficult to follow because the main discussion shifts between climate, students’ study habits, and childhood memories without clearly linking these ideas to the two questions. Connectors such as “So,” “Because,” and “That is why” are repeated or used to begin incomplete thoughts, and the personal anecdote interrupts the argument rather than supporting it. The conclusion introduces a preference but does not summarise the case for shorter holidays. Use one paragraph for each side, link each example directly to its point, and use clearer referencing and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the general topic, including “climate change,” “valuable opportunity,” “time table,” and “memories.” There are also attempts to express cause and effect, for example, students may become sick in hot classrooms. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less clear, such as “extremelt,” “reult,” “exicted,” and “oppertunity.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “spend their holidays in playing” and “very hotter country.” Aim for accurate topic vocabulary and natural collocations, such as “take part in recreational activities” and “countries with very hot climates.” Proofreading spelling and word forms would make your meaning easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including cause-and-effect structures such as “As a result, they get sick and they don't pay attention to their studies.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in sentence construction, agreement, tense, and articles. For example, “other believes” should use a plural subject and matching verb, while “the weather become” needs subject–verb agreement. “A students should set a time table” also has a mismatch between the article and plural noun. Some sentences are fragments, such as “Because many of the students feel very happy,” and the conditional “if he will not pay attention” is not formed accurately. Practise complete sentences and check agreement and verb forms.
