Student answer (Band 6.0)
School is a place where parents send their child to gain logistic and theoretical knowledge. However, Summer vacation or longer holidays are given to students as per their curriculum, in many countries. Exploring the ideas, the forthcoming paragraphs will put forthe both the sides of the argument in a comprehensible manner.
For the first notion, the first and foremost point is that the long school holidays helps children to spend more time with their parents as well as for extra curriculum activities. The main reason is that, during school days they are more involved in school homework and even long school hours exhaust them to do other activities for fun. To exemplify, when a child comes home after school he usually prefer sleeping rather than spending time with their family or playing outdoors. Extended holidays encourage them to get involve in oudoor activities which can also contribute to their physical development.
Contradicting the above justification, limited number of holidays in school is usually beneficial for a child who is weak in studies and who easily forgets the topic in a shorter peroid of time. For instance, extra classes provide more time for faculties to teach topics in depth by taking their own time, by not rushing over the topic. This can also helps the children at the time of an examination where they are already so through with the topics that was taught in the class without spending much time at home studying.
In conclusion, children can spend more time with their relatives and playing during the longer vacation whereas shorter period of vacation have positive impact on their learning capabilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions and maintain a relevant comparison: the first main paragraph explains that longer breaks allow family time, rest and extracurricular or outdoor activities, while the next argues that shorter breaks can help students retain material and receive more teaching. These are appropriate ideas, and the conclusion restates the contrast. However, the two sides are not developed equally or in much depth. The value of long holidays is supported with a specific example of a tired child, but the case for shorter holidays relies mainly on extra classes and exam preparation; explain more clearly how shorter breaks prevent learning loss or benefit students more broadly. A clearer, more direct statement of the overall view would also strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, one paragraph for each side, and a conclusion. The progression from the benefits of longer holidays to the case for shorter ones is easy to follow, and signposts such as “For the first notion” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages. This coherent structure is a strength. To make the organisation more flexible and precise, avoid formulaic transitions such as “Contradicting the above justification,” and use links that show the exact relationship between ideas. Some references are also unclear: “This can also helps” does not clearly identify whether “this” means extra classes or shorter holidays. More explicit links between each claim, explanation and example would improve cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of vocabulary relevant to education and holidays, including “curriculum,” “physical development,” “examination,” and “learning capabilities.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “in depth” and “contribute to.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “logistic and theoretical knowledge,” “put forthe,” “extra curriculum activities,” and “get involve in oudoor activities.” Spelling errors such as “peroid” and “through” (where “thorough” is intended) also stand out. Aim for natural combinations such as “academic and practical knowledge” and “extracurricular activities,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. This would make your meaning more fluent and exact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause beginning “The main reason is that” and a relative clause in “a child who is weak in studies.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction reduce accuracy. For example, “the long school holidays helps” should use a plural verb, while “he usually prefer” needs a singular verb. In “This can also helps,” the modal should be followed by the base form; “children at the time of an examination” also needs clearer article and number choices. Review subject–verb agreement and modal patterns, and proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is grammatically complete and clearly connected.
