Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address both questions and give relevant reasons for long holidays, especially protection from Pakistan’s summer heat, time to visit family, and opportunities for trips to cooler areas. You also identify a case for shorter breaks: students can stay connected with their studies and avoid losing interest. However, the response is only partially developed. The discussion of shorter holidays is brief, and the paragraph introduced as arguments for long holidays largely repeats the earlier points rather than adding a distinct argument. Your opening does not establish a clear, direct position on the value of long holidays or how the two sides compare. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make your overall view explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response moves from an introduction to the value of long holidays, further arguments for them, and then the case for shorter holidays. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these topics. However, progression within and between paragraphs is limited, and the long-holiday points are repeated rather than developed in a clear sequence. Linking words such as “furthermore” and “that is why” are used, but connections are sometimes unclear or mechanical; for example, the paragraph about meeting family shifts to claims about heat-related illness without a clear transition. The opening is also difficult to follow. Give each paragraph one clear purpose, use topic sentences, and connect each reason to its explanation more precisely.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “summer holidays,” “temperature,” “career,” “interest,” and “family,” and you attempt phrases such as “plays an important role in society.” However, the range is limited and several spelling errors or inaccurate word choices make parts of the response difficult to understand, such as “vocations” for holidays, “hottness,” and “loose interest.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “summer in house” and “cold areas.” Aim to use accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Repeating “hot,” “holidays,” and “students” also limits variety; you could use more precise alternatives where appropriate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to connect ideas in longer sentences, for example with “because” and “furthermore,” but the range of sentence structures is limited and these attempts are often difficult to follow. Errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur throughout. For instance, “in summer there wa very hard to go institution” lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “these holiday plays” has a mismatch between the plural subject and verb. The opening is also a sentence fragment rather than a clear introductory sentence. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using subordinate clauses. Check subject–verb agreement, tense consistency, articles, and punctuation when editing.
