Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. Ideas are introduced but not fully supported with specific examples or detailed explanations. For instance, the mention of 'extreme hot weather' is a good starting point, but it is not expanded upon to explain how it specifically impacts educational outcomes. To improve, you need to elaborate on your arguments with concrete examples and ensure you meet the word count requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is occasionally repetitive or mechanical. Some sentences, such as 'every human being needs break from every tasks however, design of whole year calendar designs according to nature', lack clear logical connections to the surrounding text. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'summer summer holidays are the demand of the season' and 'educational tasks should complete on time without in disturbance'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct context. Expanding your range of synonyms and learning common collocations will help you express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
There is a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. However, the essay contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement ('pupil and staff wants'), article usage ('in almost ever country'), and prepositional errors ('for spend time'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some run-on sentences and missing commas. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing 's' on plural nouns would also be beneficial.
