Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is limited. For example, the argument regarding 'learning other important skills' is vague and lacks specific examples. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesise the points made. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack depth and detail, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, ensure each main point is supported by a concrete example or a more detailed explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'Due to it' are used repeatedly and incorrectly to link ideas. Additionally, the transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt, making the flow feel disjointed. While the paragraphing is present, the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more variety and precision to guide the reader effectively through the arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'educational buildings' instead of 'schools' and 'fruitful for in future'. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'bond strong with family'. The vocabulary is repetitive, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('their either focus maintain'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. For instance, 'if china did not provide fewer number of holidays... than they would not have' contains errors in conditional structure and capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limits the score.
