Student answer (Band 6.5)

Summer vacations are the time children have weighted eagerly for their hole academic year. Mani Nations provide vacations for two or more months to students of primary and secondary school. In the 4th coming paragraph I shall explain the value of long school holidays as well as reviews of opponents.

To commence with the value of long school holidays, one of the major reasons according to students perspectives is that they need rest. As we know, today education system has became very difficult and too much competitive, there for after studying for the whole year it is important to give some rest to students' little mind. In addition in many countries that temperature of atmosphere is two high especially in summers. These may increase many help problems in children as they have lower immunity as compared to adults. Many times, because of high atmospheric temperature schools often decide to extend the summer vacation in order to prevent health problems like dehydration, heat stroke, diarrhea among the kids. To cite an example here, last year, in the month of me there was a red alert declared in my city due to extreme heat and many schools and even colleges declared holidays until the heat subsided.

Further more, in summer vacations, there are many summer camps organised at various places. Children can take part in such camps and can improve our learn new skills to which they may not be able to give attention and time due to their busy academic schedule. For instance, one of my cousins, Shreya, she loves to make craft since she was 7 years old, however due to her schools and tuitions she doesn't have enough time for this so she always take part in these kinds of cams with a view to improve her talent.

On the other hand, there are some arguments in favour of shorter vacations. One strong negative effect of long School vacations is that after not touching books for such a long time, children loose interest in studies and it become hard to remember the answers at beginning. In addition, Maine kids don't like to go back to schools on first few days. Meanwhile, a long vacation of kids may become an issue to their working parents. Nowadays its common that both parents are doing a job, so, when did child has a long vacation, it makes difficult for them to adjust that job and to look after their kid. For example, when I was a student, both my mother and father where doing a job at a private company, so when I had vacation for such a long period I was used to be all alone at my home and got so bored because it was not possible for my parents to take such long leaves from there office.

To conclude, there are many reasons to give pretty much importance to long school holidays, whereas there are some negative effects of it, too.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the discussion on extreme weather and the challenges faced by working parents. However, the introduction is slightly weak, and the conclusion is very brief, lacking a summary of the main points. While the position is clear, the development of ideas could be more sophisticated to reach a higher band. Overall, the response covers all requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'In addition', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are occasional issues with referencing (e.g., 'there' instead of 'their' and 'that' instead of 'the'). Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the concluding paragraph is underdeveloped, which slightly affects the overall flow and progression of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary (e.g., 'subsided', 'immunity'), but there are also frequent spelling errors ('Mani' for 'Many', 'hole' for 'whole', 'me' for 'May', 'cams' for 'camps', 'Maine' for 'Many'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent understanding. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and more precise word choices to convey their ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('education system has became', 'temperature... are two high'), article usage, and word forms ('help problems' instead of 'health problems'). Punctuation is also inconsistent in places. While the student attempts complex structures, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The writing is understandable, but the control over complex structures is limited.
