Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer holidays.
In the summer holidays most of the students learn new skills of earnings which can be later used to be a big source of regular income. Some of the students works in some places like cafeterias, shopping malls and many other places and get some real life work experience of earning. Some of the students and also teachers wants to visit around the world and goes on a trip in these days. And also some students waste their precious time in just roaming and chilling the life.
As the summer holidays stays for a long period of time which is about two months so it's a big source of learning something new and do something in life and prove yourself .
Therefore the value of the summer holidays is like a red diamond that we shouldn't waste them and spend them in a precious place to make them value and shine like a sun.
Some people's arguments are that these being a source of learning something these holidays also play a vital role in the lives of children because in this age's child are not enough mature to consider the value of these holidays and much of their time is wasted in useless activities and they do nothing so these holidays should be shorter so children could learn something from school instead of learning from world. So these are the arguments in the favour of shorter holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. The points regarding work experience and travel are mentioned but not sufficiently expanded upon with specific examples or logical depth. The essay relies on generalizations, such as 'roaming and chilling,' which lacks the academic tone required for Task 2. To improve, you should provide more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your arguments, ensuring that each paragraph contributes to a clear, well-structured position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the value of holidays and the arguments for shorter ones is abrupt. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or used incorrectly, such as the frequent use of 'some of the students' and 'and also.' The concluding paragraph is particularly disjointed, making it difficult to follow the flow of the argument. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' 'on the other hand') and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive. Phrases like 'roaming and chilling the life' and 'red diamond' are informal or awkward in an academic context. There is a lack of precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to education or child development. While the meaning is generally clear, the range is limited, and there are instances of word-choice errors, such as 'earnings' instead of 'employment' or 'earning money.' To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations that are appropriate for formal writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'students works,' 'holidays stays'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'in this age's child are not enough mature'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentences being run-on or lacking necessary commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of the text. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be beneficial.
