Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the benefits of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat brief and could benefit from more detailed examples or explanations. For instance, the point about parents managing children during work hours is a good observation but lacks elaboration. To improve, ensure you fully expand on each point to meet the word count and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'However' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the lack of length makes the overall structure feel a bit thin. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices and ensuring that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their ideas clearly. There are some spelling errors, such as 'cristism' (criticism), 'extented' (extended), 'hoildays' (holidays), and 'assits' (assists). Additionally, there are minor word choice issues, such as 'supportive and cristism' instead of 'support and criticism'. While the range is sufficient to discuss the topic, it is somewhat limited and lacks the precision or variety of less common lexical items that would be expected at a higher band level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, though there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'Many people use the summer holiday to travel together, spend time with children will strengthen the family relation' (run-on/fragment issues) and 'teacher have to put more effort on studnets' (subject-verb agreement and spelling). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency. Increasing the variety of complex structures and proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score.
