Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation regarding health safety in Pakistan is relevant, but the discussion on 'summer packs' is less focused on the 'value' of the holidays themselves. The arguments for shorter holidays are presented, but they are somewhat generalised and lack depth. To improve, you should provide more specific examples or logical reasoning to support your points, ensuring that each paragraph directly answers the prompt's questions.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'Some people think', 'On the other hand'). There are instances where the logical flow between sentences is disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'large ratios of heat stock' (likely meaning 'high incidence of heatstroke') and 'understand the children nature'. Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'very essential' (essential is an absolute adjective and does not typically take 'very'). To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'summer holidays has', 'Pakistan have'), article usage (e.g., 'in all countries'), and punctuation errors (e.g., missing spaces after periods). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent punctuation to improve your accuracy.
