Student answer (Band 6.5)
In many countries, primary and secondary schools closes for two months or more in the summer vacations.
The primary reasons of the the holidays being so long is that the increasing heat which is harmful for students and also they get rest from their schools and can focus on other self improving courses although, the schools give holiday homework to the students to keep them engage and to make sure their holidays should not waste . Many students apply for new courses not only self improving skills but also like new language and learning new computer skills which helps the students significantly in their future.
Personally, I believe that two months holiday isn't that bad if a student utilizes their time perfectly, I believe that two months holiday is good for them. Whereas, Many students just waste their time in playing games and watching movies which is a total waste of time. I think the best way is to organize extra classes for weak students by analyzing their results which may help the students to improve their academic studies. It is a perfect way to utilize students time.
Therefore, I think one month fifteen days is enough for learning new skills because if a student gets holiday for two months which is very long period of time this affects their habit of studying and make them forgot about the thing they have studied before the vacation and after the vacation the students becomes blank due to which many teachers have to restart their course which may waste a lot of time. For example many students utilizes their time in a perfect way which helps alot for their further academics but some may lose the habit of studying and their pace of learning becomes noticeably slow.
To sum up, I believe the time period doesn't matter if a student utilizes it perfectly and study further for their academics which saves their alot of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'self-improving courses' is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples. The position is generally clear, but the transition between the benefits of long holidays and the drawbacks is slightly disjointed. To improve, you should aim to provide more distinct, well-supported arguments for each side of the debate rather than circling back to the same points about 'utilizing time' multiple times.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the flow of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the use of 'Therefore' at the start of the fourth paragraph does not logically follow the previous paragraph's focus on organizing extra classes. Additionally, some sentences are run-on or lack clear logical connectors, such as the transition between the benefits of holidays and the personal opinion section. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would significantly enhance the logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic phrases like 'utilizes their time' and 'waste of time'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'academic studies', 'noticeably slow'), there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'make them forgot' instead of 'make them forget' and 'students becomes blank'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive, simplistic expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'schools closes', 'students becomes'), article misuse ('the increasing heat'), and tense inconsistencies. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and pluralization, and try to vary your sentence structures with more complex, error-free constructions.
