Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention health benefits and skill development for long holidays, and academic consistency for shorter ones, the ideas are presented in a repetitive manner. The essay lacks a clear, consistent position or a strong concluding summary that synthesizes the arguments. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is supported by a more detailed explanation or a more specific, illustrative example rather than just stating the point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You rely heavily on simple conjunctions like 'and' or 'while as'. There is a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices to link sentences and paragraphs effectively. For instance, the transition between the benefits of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are run-on, such as the second paragraph, which contains several comma splices. Improving the use of transition words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'conversely') would significantly improve the logical progression of your arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'new things' and 'playing' repeatedly. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'hat waves' (likely meant 'heat waves') and 'nature beauty' (should be 'natural beauty'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and child development. Avoid repeating the same phrases and focus on using more precise adjectives and nouns to convey your meaning more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'student usually doesn't focus'), incorrect pronoun usage ('there parents' instead of 'their'), and punctuation errors like comma splices. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the lack of control over complex sentences limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring correct subject-verb agreement and avoiding run-on sentences, will help improve your accuracy.
