Student answer (Band 6.5)
Long summer holidays are now the part of academic calendar across the globe. These holidays are well known for child personal development. In holiday time the children are having oppuortunity of making this spare time valuable and growing.
There is a great debate of giving children holidays of around two months in a year. Some scholars and professors mentioned and highlighted the key values of having school long holidays. According to them students can explore many of the different activities which they can not practice while studying. The students can identify the bottlenecks and they should try to overcome them, this will help them to perform better in the upcoming study tenure of the year.
In many schools, there are many facilities for the students in summer vacations. The main highlighting practices they offer are summer camps. They include sports, arts, specific culture practices and many more. According to the surveys of the year 2025, mentioning many of the students try to find mental piece during vacations by traveling and exploring. They dedicate the whole time for traveling and they believe in growing by exploring different cultures and enjoy their precious time. In Pakistan, children are given academic work to complete.
In my view, students should be given this long two months summer vacations. I believe a student can gain a lot of skill set, the students can improve their academics, by doing this the children can also give some time to identify their key interests in different domains and enjoy this time. This will lead a student to increase their capabilities and they can perform better if they are given these two months holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones, although the latter is only briefly touched upon. The position is clear, but the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the mention of 'bottlenecks' is vague and not fully explained in the context of student development. To improve, you should provide more specific examples or logical reasoning for why shorter holidays might be beneficial, as the current focus is heavily skewed toward the advantages of long breaks. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the arguments need more substantial elaboration to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. Phrases like 'According to them' and 'In my view' are used, but the transitions between sentences and paragraphs could be smoother to improve the flow. Some sentences feel disjointed, such as the sudden mention of Pakistan in the third paragraph, which lacks a clear connection to the preceding points about summer camps. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, unified topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'mental piece' (likely intended as 'peace') and 'study tenure'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'academic calendar' and 'domains', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more academic collocations to demonstrate a wider command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'are now the part of academic calendar' (missing articles), 'oppuortunity' (spelling), and 'they can not practice' (should be 'cannot'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and punctuation. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic errors like articles, prepositions, and spelling, and try to vary your sentence structures with more complex clauses to demonstrate better control.
