Student answer (Band 5.0)

In most of countries, the primary and secondary schools are often close on summer vacations for two months or more according to their annual academic calendar. the vacations are usually starting from March to June depending on the schedule . students become very excited before one week of the vacations . because the wait whole year for that, these vacations are good or not depending on the syllabus report of the school classes. teachers give the to task to the students to perform in these vacations.

now move towards the value of these holiday. these are much important because students are tired because of whole year study, and they are need to be fresh. during these vacations students go their favourite places and perform other activities which are relevant to the study or explore different experiences and many physical activities which play a vital role in the mental health of the student. like outdoor games in which football, cricket or many games important for physical growth. in which parents have enough time to watch and maintain their child health or growth. they can arrange a study trip to others part of the country for their child. all these things make the student mentally and physically fit.

now the arguments for the favor of shorter school holidays are, sometimes these long vacations leads the student far away from the study and loses his interest in the study, he can involve in other activities which leads to another way, so connection with the study is very important which can be only by the shorter vacations. and other thing is that long vacations more waste the time for the study in shorter vacation we have more time to cover students syllabus in precise way. which is very important for the grades and for the future as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is limited. While you mention physical health and mental rest, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the argument about 'losing interest in study' is a good point but is not fully explored or supported with specific examples. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and provides more detailed explanations or real-world examples to support your claims. The response is somewhat informal in tone, which affects the overall task response quality.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical. Transitions like 'now move towards' and 'and other thing is that' are unnatural and do not effectively link ideas. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the flow between sentences is often disjointed. To reach a higher band, you should use a wider range of cohesive devices (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'on the other hand') and ensure that your sentences connect more smoothly to create a logical progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'good,' 'important,' and 'study.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'syllabus report' and 'watch and maintain their child health.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range is not sufficient to demonstrate flexibility or precision. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to education and child development, and focus on using words in their correct context to avoid awkward phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('they are need to be fresh'), article usage ('in most of countries'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and capitalization. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and proofreading for punctuation errors. Reducing the number of simple, repetitive sentence structures will also help improve your score.
