Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 191 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay attempts to address both parts of the prompt—the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter ones—the ideas are underdeveloped and lack sufficient depth. The arguments regarding financial savings and technical skills are introduced but not fully explained or supported with convincing logic. Furthermore, the response is somewhat confused, as it conflates the idea of 'shorter holidays' with 'online education,' which is not the central focus of the prompt. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and ensure you meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'In first place' and 'On the other hand,' they are sometimes used incorrectly or mechanically. The connection between sentences is often weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. For example, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that supports your overall position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'liquidaty' (liquidity) and 'stationary' (stationery). There is an attempt to use more academic vocabulary, but the lack of precision often obscures the intended meaning. Phrases like 'main may how to curtail' are unclear and suggest a struggle with collocation and word formation. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling and usage of common academic terms and practice using them in full, grammatically correct sentences. Expanding your vocabulary through reading academic articles will also help you express your ideas with greater clarity and sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'student's productivity increase'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they may providing'), and sentence structure (e.g., 'schools who are suffered by financial difficulties'). The range of structures is limited, and the punctuation is inconsistent. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of auxiliary verbs. Proofreading your work for these fundamental errors before submitting is essential.
