Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays, schools have been providing long holidays to students. It is believed that,In many countries, primary and secondary schools close for two months or more in the summer vacations.i partly agree with the given the statement.

To embark with, schools are giving long holidays to the students and teachers becuase they can spend quality time with their families and friends and also teachers can relax and reduce strees from their workload.Notwitstanding, teachers do not have enough time to relax becuase of aecademic pressure and responsbilites. For example, families should plan to go on a long trip becuase it creates a strong emotional bond and also children can explore new places and enhance their knowledge. In addition students can learn new skills in their free time becuase it is more significant for developing ideas and improving their skills during vacation. They can play outdoor games like cricket, vollyeball, and football becuase it can maintain physical fitness and mental wellbeing. Moreover, teachers can improve teaching skills and prepare aecademic lessons.

On the other hand, schools are giving shorter holidays rather than long vacation.Long breaks can cause students to forget their knowledge especially in subjects like mathematics and languages.students can get shorter breaks so it helps maintain aecademic progress and improves education.Furthermore, regular school attendance helps students learn dicipline and consistent study habits. For example,During the exam, students are preparing homework and aecademic knowledge and also teachers provieded extra lectures and revisions so students can pass the exams and achieve the frist rank in the school.

To coclude, schools are givinig shorter vacations better than long holidays becuase children can spend quility time together and create emotional bond.In my opinion, shorter breaks are better becuase it helps children learn properly and gain knowledge.Sometimes teachers help to cover extra classes and supports for weakar students. band score

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'academic pressure' for teachers is mentioned but not clearly linked to the overall debate. The position is stated as 'partly agree,' but the conclusion contradicts the introduction by stating that shorter vacations are better, which creates a lack of clarity in the writer's stance. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument supported by clear examples rather than listing multiple points briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To embark with' are non-standard, and the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. For example, the shift from discussing family trips to outdoor games within the same paragraph lacks a smooth logical flow. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final paragraph where the connection between 'shorter vacations' and 'emotional bond' is confusing. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'strees' (stress), 'aecademic' (academic), 'responsbilites' (responsibilities), 'vollyeball' (volleyball), 'dicipline' (discipline), and 'quility' (quality). These errors occur frequently and occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'good' or 'better' rather than more sophisticated alternatives. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and incorporating more topic-specific collocations related to education and child development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'schools are giving shorter holidays rather than long vacation' (missing articles) and 'teachers provieded extra lectures' (incorrect tense). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods throughout the text. The frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage indicate a lack of control over basic grammar. To improve, focus on mastering sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
