Student answer (Band 5.0)

Well, the summer holidays are the one of the best holidays in the life of a student and These vacations have very delicious taste for every student.

The summer days are full of hot . Heat strokes, heat waves etc . Especially the days of June and July. In Gulf countries and also in Asia the summer is very hot than Europe .So, in old times when their were no any facilities of air conditioners, Air coolers summer holidays were very important for the health of the students and also for their growth but their was a problem that students did not studied and forgot their lessons. But today there are a lot of facilities available for students some of them are as follows :

1. Online Classes

2. Air conditioners in their classrooms

3. Fresh and cold refreshments

4. Doctors in the school for any emergency

5. Air conditioner buses for pick and drop

etc.

So, Their is no need of summer vacation in this modern era which is full of science and technology.

My point is for the fun of students the holidays should be shorter and not more than two weeks. These two weeks never effect the studies of the students and also their fun they can enjoy at the beach, in swimming pools and also can arrange a water party at their homes.

Holidays are important for the mental and physical health of the students. So in this time, holidays are enough for two weeks and worst if these holidays are two months. When students returned to school after two months they face a lot of problems in their studies. It is the we should change our education system according to the new world because this world is changing very fast .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of holidays and arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is limited. The arguments are presented in a list format, which is inappropriate for an academic essay. The reasoning regarding the 'value' of long holidays is somewhat superficial, focusing primarily on historical heat issues rather than educational or developmental benefits. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas lack depth and academic rigor, often relying on informal phrasing like 'water party' or 'delicious taste'. To improve, you should expand your arguments into full, cohesive paragraphs with more sophisticated analysis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a standard academic structure. The use of a numbered list (1-5) is a significant weakness in terms of coherence, as it disrupts the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is inconsistent, and there is a lack of effective cohesive devices to link ideas logically. While the reader can follow the general point, the transition between the historical context of heat and the modern argument for shorter holidays is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and moving away from list-based formatting will significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and occasionally inappropriate for an academic context. Phrases like 'very delicious taste' are unnatural in this setting. There is also frequent misuse of word forms and collocations, such as 'did not studied' (should be 'did not study') and 'their is no need' (should be 'there is no need'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic message, it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You should focus on learning more academic collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are persistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('students did not studied'), article usage, and homophone confusion (e.g., 'their' instead of 'there'). Sentence structures are mostly simple or repetitive, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also problematic, particularly the use of fragments and unnecessary full stops within sentences. To reach a higher band, you must focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and reducing the frequency of errors in simple structures.
