Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt but fails to clearly identify the value of long holidays or the arguments for shorter ones. The ideas are largely incoherent and repetitive, making it difficult to discern a clear position. The student mentions 'stress' and 'family time' as benefits, but these points are not developed with logical reasoning or relevant examples. The reference to an 'Oxford University' study regarding Japan is vague and lacks a clear connection to the prompt's requirements. Overall, the response does not adequately address the task, as the arguments are obscured by significant language errors and a lack of focus.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is severely lacking. There is no clear introduction or conclusion that effectively frames the argument. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'becouse' and 'that way' to link clauses. The internal structure of the paragraphs is chaotic, with sentences often failing to relate to one another. Referencing is unclear, and the transition between the benefits of holidays and the arguments for shorter holidays is non-existent, making the text difficult to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is extremely limited and frequently inaccurate. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'tha' for 'the', 'becouse' for 'because', 'sepend' for 'spend', and 'summary Vikeshon' for 'summer vacation'. These errors often impede communication. The student relies on basic, repetitive words and struggles to use appropriate terminology related to the topic of education or holidays. There is no evidence of an attempt to use less common lexical items, and the word choice is often inappropriate for an academic context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical control is very weak. The text is riddled with errors in sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and word order. Almost every sentence contains significant mistakes, such as 'school hold a paramount significance in our life' and 'every year there to for month provide holiday'. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the simple sentences attempted are often grammatically incorrect. Punctuation is also problematic, with a lack of proper sentence boundaries. These frequent errors make the text very difficult to read and understand.
