Student answer (Band 6.0)

Education plays pivotal role in every children's life because nation's success depends on how educated their youth is, so long school holidays somewhere distract children's study and learning abilities because while they are on holiday they do not study much which in result will impact their life's future outcomes.

Firstly, giving short term holidays to juveniles will work best in their favour only as they will be involved In study and they can keep the track of things what they are doing. Although breaks are important for them to refresh their mind but short breaks can work well as compared to long ones as sometimes long breaks will make them feel like not doing anything. For instance, when I was child I used to do my study even In holidays but my brother on the other hand do not show much interest to join the school again as he always feel bored on the thought of joining school again after vacations.

Secondly, not attending school for longer period of time will impact their physical activity and brain activity as well, because when they are not in school they are not so involved in good activities at home and they become more lazy because of limited activity in their daily life also they do not Interac with people outside their home which also impacts their ability to communicate confidently with others.

Overall, In my opinion short term holidays are way better for their overall growth as it will keep then involved in education and other physical activities and they can fresh their mind as well.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is somewhat limited. The arguments regarding 'physical activity' and 'brain activity' are repetitive and could be more clearly distinguished. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas lack depth and specific examples beyond a brief personal anecdote. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the educational or social benefits of long holidays (e.g., family time, travel, or extracurricular interests) to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Overall', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'keep the track of things what they are doing'. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'good activities' and 'not doing anything', which are quite informal and imprecise. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'distract children's study' (should be 'distract children from their studies') and 'fresh their mind' (should be 'refresh their minds'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and child development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('my brother... do not show'), article usage ('as child'), and awkward phrasing ('In my opinion short term holidays are way better'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization (e.g., 'In', 'Interac'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent sentence structure.
