Student answer (Band 5.5)
Since Many years, educational institutions remains close for morethan two months during the summer season. According to my opinion, summer holidays are declared due to heavy heatwave produced in the months of summer season.
Firstly, most of the school irrespective of primary or secondary schools remains shutdown for two month or more due to heat condition which almost it reaches 50 degrees. Here it is a great break or chance to students to develop their skills online at our home which irrespective of subject gives a good value of long period holidays. But some people may waste their valuable time under the sun during heatwave and fall ill which is an drawback for people.
So, all the educational societies must think about to minimise the long holidays to shorter holidays which is benifical to both students and schools. In instant, If schools were shuntdown for long period students may loose their grasping, reading and writing power. If schools remains open with short gap during heavy heat condition students may not effect their skills respectively.
Moreover, parents also think about students studies and must cooperate with primary and secondary institutions. And also by providing shorted school holidays followed by some activities like homeworks of each subjects. Majorly, this Homework activities are planned for student safely only. Because by giving activities to complete at home as homework has benifts like students may not loose thier initial reading, writing, grasping skills and also they were not suppose to got under the sun during heavy heat condition.
In conclusion, Edcucational institutions must focus on shorter school holidays instead of longer summer holidays which not effects the students study culture and their skills

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of these ideas is limited. The arguments regarding 'heatwaves' and 'skill loss' are repetitive and lack depth. The position is clear, but the supporting points are somewhat superficial. To improve, you should provide more concrete examples or logical explanations for why shorter holidays might be beneficial, such as the impact on working parents or the continuity of the curriculum. The current arguments are somewhat circular, focusing heavily on the weather rather than the educational or social implications of the holiday structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In instant' (likely meant 'For instance') and 'Majorly'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and repetitive sentence structures. While the essay is coherent enough to be understood, the transitions between ideas are not always smooth, and the referencing (e.g., 'this Homework activities') is occasionally unclear. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'heavy heatwave produced', 'shuntdown', and 'not suppose to got under the sun'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the clarity of your message. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('institutions remains', 'schools remains'), incorrect verb forms ('students may loose', 'not effects'), and awkward phrasing. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation require the reader to work harder to interpret your intended meaning. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage would be a great starting point for improvement.
