Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. For instance, the discussion on physical fitness and family time is somewhat circular. The argument regarding working parents is relevant but lacks depth. The position is generally clear, but the lack of formal structure and the reliance on informal, sometimes confusing phrasing, prevents a more thorough exploration of the topic. To improve, you should aim to provide more specific, well-developed examples and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a distinct, clearly articulated point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction or conclusion that effectively frames the argument, and the paragraphing is insufficient. The transition between ideas is often abrupt or missing, making the flow of the essay difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, such as the repetitive use of 'in the' or 'and'. The lack of punctuation, particularly between sentences, creates a 'run-on' effect that hinders readability. To improve, you must use clear paragraph breaks, topic sentences, and a variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') to guide the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'timeperiod', 'relaxing hour', and 'did not loss in the student side'. The repetition of basic words like 'holiday', 'work', and 'student' indicates a restricted range. Some phrases are difficult to interpret due to non-standard usage, such as 'i gill my notion'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more academic and topic-specific terms and focus on using words in their correct context to express ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There is a total lack of punctuation, which makes it difficult to identify sentence boundaries. Subject-verb agreement errors are common (e.g., 'the school give', 'the student did not loss'). There is also a lack of complex sentence structures; most sentences are simple or poorly connected. Articles and prepositions are frequently omitted or used incorrectly (e.g., 'in foreign country', 'to go their work'). To improve, you must focus on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and the proper use of punctuation to ensure your writing is grammatically sound.
