Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many countries, it is very often to close primary and secondary schools for a long in order to summer holidays, around two months or mare than that. I believe, it is necessary for students to get longer holidays, as they can utilize their time for something innovative and get a break from daily school routine. This essay will discuss both, the value of long school holidays, and arguments which are in favor of shorter school holidays.
Longer school holidays are essential in many aspects. Students can utilize that time for learning new skills which are very popular nowadays and many schools don't provide those services. Because not only can those skills help them to explore other things than their casual academic curriculum, but it can also change their mood, as they could find it something new from its normal school routine which can develop their interests. For instance, many students join computer classes or English classes in order to develop these skills in their long summer vacation.
Admittedly, there are some arguments that are in favor of shorter holidays because many people think that students are wasting their time during long holidays. Additionally, there is another argument is that students has diminished their habit of study, loss interest and wasting their time with other unnecessary activities, and also they forget many basic things that are very important for their next step of education.
In conclusion, I believe that longer holidays are important in order to learn many other essential and innovative skills that can help them in later educational career, while some other arguments are supporting shorter school holidays which is, students waste their time and loss their habit of study with other unusual activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention skill development as a benefit, the explanation remains quite general. Similarly, the arguments for shorter holidays are presented but lack depth or specific examples. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by a clear, logical explanation or a concrete example. The position is clear throughout, but the overall development is basic, which aligns with the Band 6 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Admittedly,' 'Additionally,' and 'In conclusion,' to link ideas. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'there is another argument is that.' Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved to sound more natural. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on repetitive phrasing, such as 'utilize their time' and 'wasting their time.' There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'loss interest' (should be 'lose interest') and 'diminished their habit of study' (which is not a standard collocation). While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or sophisticated lexical items. This level of performance is consistent with Band 5.5 or 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'it is very often to close' (incorrect structure), 'students has diminished' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'loss interest' (incorrect word form). Punctuation is generally functional, but the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives and verb forms.
