Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by discussing both the benefits of long holidays and arguments for shorter holidays, but it lacks clear structure and depth in argumentation. The discussion is somewhat unbalanced; while it presents points for both sides, the argument for shorter holidays is undeveloped. Specific examples and clearer reasoning could be provided to strengthen the overall WA.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The coherence and cohesion of the essay are weak. Ideas are not clearly connected, and the flow of the argument is disrupted by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. For instance, the transition from discussing benefits of long holidays to the contrasting viewpoint is abrupt and lacks linking expressions. Better use of paragraphs could improve readability and logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is often inappropriate or inaccurate. Phrases like "lost of educations value" and "devalue their education" are unclear, indicating a misunderstanding of terms. While there are attempts at using varied vocabulary, such as "impacts" and "crucial," the overall lexical resource is limited. More precise and sophisticated word choices are needed to convey ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical range and accuracy are a significant concern, with several errors throughout the text affecting clarity. Issues include problems with verb forms (e.g., "may be have") and pluralization (e.g., "children must be think"). Sentence structures lack complexity, and there are multiple fragments or run-ons, making it challenging for the reader to follow. Greater attention to grammatical accuracy and variety in sentence structures is needed to improve this score.
Overall feedback
Your essay addresses the task requirements by discussing the value of long holidays and perspectives on shorter ones. However, it suffers from a lack of clear structure, making your arguments difficult to follow. Aim for more logical paragraph organization, with clear topic sentences and supporting details. Work on expanding your arguments with specific examples. Additionally, improve your grammatical accuracy and sentence variety to enhance clarity. Your use of vocabulary needs refinement; opting for clearer and more precise terms will strengthen your writing significantly.
