Student answer (Band 6.0)

Education plays a vital role in the growth of youngsters but it has been seen that schools are closed for more than two months in many region of this world during the summer season. Well, I will explicate my views after discussing the topic.

There are numerous benefits of having long school holidays, the predominant one is youngsters get some quality time to refresh their minds and in order to get back to their studies with full concentration. In addition, adolescents will get some fun loving and interesting activities to do in their holidays as homework which will aid them in proliferating their IQ level. For an instance, a survey has been done in different schools noticing the development of children iq level during school time and after their summer break and surprisingly, it was found that the iq level of students were at peak when they came after their long school breaks.

Well, on the contrary, multifarious arguments have been evidently seen among parents in favour of short school breaks. First of all, parents think that if the youth will get short breaks then they become more productive and remain disciplined throughout the year. To exemplify, Hindustan time reported in year 2024 that children getting smaller summer holidays were found more disciplined then the one's who get almost 2-3 months of break. Moreover, long holidays make children lazy which also play a vital role in decrement of their concentration level.

To encapsulate after reiterating the aforementioned points, I land onto a conclusion that often it is evident that students having long summer breaks have high iq level but as per according to me, it makes them more lazy & undisciplined so in order to maintain balance, children should be allocated certain amount of holidays when will be enough to refresh their mind.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. The position is clear, though the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the claim that IQ levels peak after long breaks is a bold assertion that lacks a logical explanation or a credible link to the benefits of rest. The arguments for shorter holidays are more grounded, focusing on discipline and productivity. To improve, ensure that your supporting examples are more realistic and that you provide a deeper analysis of the 'value' of holidays beyond just IQ levels, such as social development or family bonding.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition,' 'On the contrary,' and 'To encapsulate,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be smoother. The concluding paragraph is a bit repetitive, as it restates the points rather than synthesizing them into a final, cohesive thought. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph develops a single, coherent argument would enhance the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'proliferating,' 'multifarious,' and 'reiterating.' However, there are instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'fun loving and interesting activities' and 'decrement of their concentration level.' Additionally, the phrase 'as per according to me' is redundant and non-standard. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the precision is sometimes lacking. Focusing on natural collocations and avoiding overly complex words when simpler, more accurate ones would suffice will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the iq level of students were at peak') and incorrect pluralization ('in many region'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some informal stylistic choices, such as the use of '&' instead of 'and.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage.
