Student answer (Band 4.0)

Education is one of the most important for the child from the beginning of the life.

As for in every country different system of education department.

In Pakistan we do the long holiday as well which is not good for the children. We do the summer holiday as well as winter holidays which all together 2 and half months. Which is long period.

I believe in my point of view holidays are important which that we can break it in short days with giving homework for children to do so children will be more focus on the study as well.

As for breaking summer holiday into two weeks would be better and spring break two weeks and winter break two week all with that Given homework.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 126 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the prompt asks for the value of long holidays and arguments for shorter ones, the response provides only a brief, underdeveloped opinion. The ideas are presented in a fragmented manner without sufficient explanation or relevant examples. Because the response is less than half the required length, it is impossible to fully address all parts of the task, resulting in a low score for task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, body paragraphs, or conclusion. The sentences are disjointed, and there is a lack of logical progression between ideas. Cohesive devices are almost entirely absent, making the text feel like a series of disconnected thoughts rather than a cohesive argument. For example, the transition between the mention of Pakistan and the personal opinion is abrupt. To improve, you must organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs with clear topic sentences and use linking words to connect your arguments logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'one of the most important' and 'not good for the children' are simplistic and lack the precision required for an academic task. There is no attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary. Furthermore, word choice is often awkward, such as 'we do the long holiday' instead of 'we have long holidays'. To achieve a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and time management.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with sentence fragments ('Which is long period.'), subject-verb agreement, and article usage ('from the beginning of the life'). The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentences starting with 'Which' or 'As for' in a way that does not follow standard English syntax. Significant improvement in basic sentence construction and grammatical accuracy is required before moving on to more complex structures.
