Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to address the prompt effectively. The introduction incorrectly states that the essay will discuss 'causes' and 'solutions', whereas the prompt asks for the 'value' of holidays and 'arguments in favour of shorter holidays'. Furthermore, the content is underdeveloped and repetitive. The word count is below the 250-word minimum, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop ideas. The arguments provided are superficial, and the essay lacks a clear, consistent position. To improve, ensure you directly answer the specific questions asked and provide detailed, logical explanations for each point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'And' to start sentences. Referencing is often unclear; for instance, the phrase 'that is also useful for teacher also' lacks a clear antecedent. The transition between the two sides of the argument is abrupt. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'conversely') and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that flows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'important', 'good', and 'time'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'learning skill which is helped in their future' and 'did not focused'. The range is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to education and time management, while also paying closer attention to word forms and parts of speech.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'school close', 'student had long vacation'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors in complex construction, such as 'when student have long holidays they spent their time'. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using consistent verb tenses throughout your writing. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and pluralisation is essential.
