Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is limited and lacks depth. The ideas are presented in a list-like fashion without sufficient elaboration or academic justification. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the overall task achievement. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed explanations and specific examples, ensuring the essay meets the required length to fully develop your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of sophisticated cohesive devices. While you use basic transition words like 'Firstly' and 'on the other hand', the connections between sentences are sometimes mechanical or unclear. The referencing is occasionally confusing, such as the pronoun usage in the second paragraph. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'vital', 'good', and 'bad'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'secondar', 'instituties', 'addation', and 'beacuse', which hinder the professional tone of the essay. The word choice is often imprecise, such as 'unusual activities' or 'too much friends'. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct spelling throughout your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('student forget there study course'), article usage, and punctuation. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. For example, 'when school provide a short break for student it will play a vital role' lacks necessary articles and correct verb tense consistency. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
