Student answer (Band 5.0)

Will in primary and secondary schools close for couple months or more in summer in many countries. because of summer season.

In one hand summer in some countries like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and also Nepal have a big summer and having very high temperature in the summer in day so they school are closed for a couple of months in summer because of the hotness in day when they open the school or college in summer season. So the student get suffered from many infection and virus and the student will week and there BP is going to low due to high hotness because this phase i also suffer by my self because once i was in 10th class and in summer season the school was opened and we were playing a football in the ground after 5 min i felt like week because i was very sweated due to high temperature of weather and accidentally i fell in to the land and faint. so the main reason is that the school and college didn't provide the AC or air system to cool the room temperature.

While on the other hand shorter holidays are also good for student because there time will safe from wasting and they get there goals because they will study and give more time. However shorter school holidays are just in the Northern areas in Pakistan like Swat, Kalam, Gilgit, And Chatral. In these areas they give a short holidays because in those areas in the summer season the temperature is normally 20 degree so that's why they give a short holidays instead of eastern areas because of weather temperature.

In the conclusion i would like to say that summer holidays are good for some reigns because they will be safe in home and spend some time with their family.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is inconsistent. The first body paragraph relies heavily on a personal anecdote rather than a broader discussion of the educational or developmental value of holidays. The second paragraph attempts to explain the rationale for shorter holidays based on climate, but the argument lacks depth and clarity. The position is somewhat clear, but the ideas are not fully extended or supported with academic reasoning, which limits the score. The response would benefit from more balanced, objective analysis rather than focusing primarily on personal health experiences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In one hand' (should be 'On the one hand') and 'While on the other hand'. Transitions between ideas are abrupt, and the relationship between sentences is sometimes difficult to follow. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall structure lacks the sophisticated flow required for higher bands. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal cohesion within those paragraphs is frequently disrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'hotness in day', 'get suffered', 'time will safe', and 'reigns' (likely meaning 'regions'). The student struggles to express complex ideas precisely, often relying on basic or incorrect terminology. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of precision and the high frequency of errors in word formation and usage prevent the response from reaching a higher band. A wider range of academic vocabulary is needed to discuss the topic effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The grammatical range is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Examples include 'they school are closed', 'the student get suffered', and 'i also suffer by my self'. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and incorrect capitalization. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, which causes difficulty for the reader. The high frequency of errors, particularly in basic grammar, significantly impacts the clarity of the message throughout the essay.
