Student answer (Band 6.0)
In most of the countries, primary and high schools remained closed for two months or even more during the summer vacation. Many of the school curriculum follows this pattern as they believe there should be some ample amount of time provided to the students to learn new skills or get a break from education so that they can peruse towards their passion.
To begin with, most of the schools provide 60 days of summer vacation for the students to enjoy their summers with family and friends. It is not applicable for students to attend school during hot summers so, it is better for them to stay indoors safe. During this time, pupils focus on learning new skill or work on their passion, while most of them go with their family for tips. Many people suggest during this time students can go for summer camps, where they can learn new skills, including sport activities as they can focus on physical health.
Moreover, if schools had shorter holidays, then it would be easier for the students to complete their syllabus on time, also they would have ample time for their exam preparation. That is because most of the schools after their summer vacation they rush their syllabus in order to complete before the main exams due to this student does not have enough time to prepare for their exams.
In conclusion, schools should have their long vacations, as that time could be utilized by the students to adapt new skills also schools should not rush their syllabus after the vacation because it will be difficult for the students to adapt that pace after a long vacation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention learning new skills and family time, these points could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. The argument for shorter holidays focuses primarily on syllabus completion and exam pressure, which is relevant but could be more nuanced. The position is clear throughout, but the essay would benefit from a more thorough exploration of the impact on student well-being or academic retention to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the progression within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing could be more sophisticated. For example, the transition between the benefits of summer camps and the argument for shorter holidays is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall flow and coherence of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'curriculum', 'syllabus', and 'vacation' correctly. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'peruse towards their passion' (likely meaning 'pursue') and 'go with their family for tips' (which is unclear and likely a misuse of 'trips'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that collocations are natural. The range is sufficient to communicate your ideas, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'In most of the countries, primary and high schools remained closed' (tense inconsistency) and 'most of the schools after their summer vacation they rush' (redundant subject). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor issues with comma usage. To reach a higher band, you should aim for more error-free complex sentences and ensure consistent verb tense usage throughout the essay.
