Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'socializing abilities' is a bit repetitive and lacks a clear explanation of why long holidays specifically cause loneliness. While the position is clear, the supporting points could be more thoroughly extended with more concrete examples or logical depth. The conclusion is a bit weak, as it merely restates the points without providing a final synthesis or a clear personal stance on the issue.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'to sum up', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with incorrect punctuation (e.g., 'consequantly, The pupils'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'all this things' in the conclusion. While the progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, the flow between sentences is sometimes interrupted by awkward phrasing or punctuation errors, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'active their inner skills', 'mental affect', and 'kills their growth'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'productivity' and 'socializing abilities', the overall range is limited. Spelling errors, such as 'consequantly' and 'get losts', are present, though they do not significantly impede the reader's understanding of the main points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('some individuals argues', 'majority of students uses'), incorrect article usage ('the holidays of summer'), and punctuation errors (missing commas, incorrect capitalization). These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the response. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over basic grammatical rules and the limited variety of complex structures keep the score in the 5.5 range.
