Student answer (Band 5.0)

In various countries, primary and secondary schools close down for two or more than two months due to summer vacations, while some people argue that less number of days should be given as a holiday to the children. While my viewpoint is discussed further.

Nowadays, due to high temperature of heat during summers so because of that reason more numbers of days are given as a holiday because due to rising temperature and humidity the children feel stress and their mind was full of anxiety at that time period they want to play and play more while some of the children’s join some activity classes and utilise their summer vacation. For example, by providing a good atmosphere in home the children will learn in home boundaries and they will also watch some of the home activities which is full of entertaining and fun which also help them to move on from their hectic schedules.

Another reason for this, the students should given enough days as a holiday because during their vacation they can learn various kind of skills in their houses and they can learn some of the basic house works also. In addition, it is necessary to learn home duties also because the children’s are the upcoming future. For instance, each school provide summer vacation for 3 months approximately and even they can also provide summer camp in that they can teach some of the sports activities.

In conclusion, it is mandatory to give holidays to children’s for more than 3 months to enjoy their life with their families and they can travel in that time and make memories in their child era.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is inconsistent. While the benefits of long holidays are explored, the arguments for shorter holidays are entirely missing from the essay, which is a significant omission. The introduction is also weak, failing to clearly state a position or outline the essay's direction. The ideas provided, such as learning household chores, are relevant but lack depth and specific supporting evidence. To improve, ensure that all parts of the prompt are given equal weight and that your position is clearly established in the introduction and maintained throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Another reason for this' is used to introduce a new point, but the connection to the previous paragraph is weak. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the use of 'they' and 'it' without clear antecedents. The flow between sentences is occasionally disrupted by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that logically follows the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'play and play more', 'learn in home boundaries', and 'child era' are unnatural and imprecise. There is a lack of academic vocabulary; the student relies on basic, everyday language. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of precision and the frequent misuse of collocations (e.g., 'high temperature of heat') hinder the overall quality. To reach a higher band, you should aim to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to education and child development, and work on using words in their correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the students should given'), incorrect pluralisation (e.g., 'children’s'), and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'due to high temperature of heat during summers so because of that reason'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
