Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument about students forgetting lessons is repeated in different ways throughout the second and third paragraphs. The position is generally clear, but the lack of depth and the reliance on simple, repetitive points prevents a higher score. To improve, you should provide more specific, well-reasoned examples rather than repeating the same general statements about students losing interest or forgetting lessons.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. There is a lack of effective cohesive devices; sentences are often linked in a mechanical or repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'The student' at the start of sentences. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the logical flow is hindered by the limited range of linking words. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of transition signals (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to express complex ideas. Words like 'boring', 'good', and 'activities' are used frequently. There are also several spelling errors (e.g., 'discusion', 'monts', 'vactions', 'rutation', 'lernt', 'cuecet', 'dally', 'zeel') that occasionally make the text difficult to read. The range of vocabulary is insufficient for a higher band score. You should focus on learning synonyms and more precise academic collocations to replace simple, repetitive words and ensure you proofread your work to correct basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response relies almost entirely on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the student take rest'), article usage, and tense consistency (e.g., 'student lernet diffrent lesson'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and incorrect capitalization. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors and the lack of complex sentence structures significantly impact the quality of the writing. You need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
