Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 192 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, leading to an under-developed response. While the essay touches upon both parts of the prompt—the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones—the discussion is superficial. The arguments regarding health and education are presented but lack sufficient supporting evidence or logical expansion. Furthermore, the inclusion of inappropriate and irrelevant content regarding 'unusual sexual activities' detracts from the academic tone and fails to address the prompt's focus on educational or social value. To improve, you must expand your arguments with clear examples and ensure all content remains relevant to the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is poorly constructed, starting with 'As it is an argued that', which is grammatically incorrect and confusing. Transitions between ideas are mechanical, such as 'Firstly we discuss' and 'Now we discuss', which makes the flow feel repetitive rather than cohesive. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the connection between the points made in the second paragraph is disjointed. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'remain off for 60 or more than 60 days' and 'badly effects on humans'. The word choice is basic, and there is a lack of academic register. Some expressions, such as 'relative home' instead of 'relatives' homes', indicate a lack of control over collocation. The vocabulary used is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, but it does not demonstrate the range or precision required for higher bands. Focus on learning academic collocations and synonyms to replace repetitive or informal language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'it have many disadvantages' (subject-verb agreement), 'In human above 40 degrees' (preposition and noun usage), and 'the syllabus of children do not completed' (passive voice error). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, you should focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and the proper use of articles. Practicing the construction of complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions will also help improve your range.
