Student answer (Band 5.0)
Today i would like to talk about primary and secondary school close for two or three or more in the summer holidays.
And what is the value of long school holidays and what are the arguments in favor of shorter school holidays.
First i would like to talk about the long value of summer holidays. It is right to give summer vocations to the students because June,July,August is the most hot month. The students didn’t bear the summer hot.And if we don’t give the vocations to the students so the students health goes down very much and i also see this situations. But our government make some mistakes they give summer vocations quickly when summer hot is not too much and open the school in the full of summer hot in August. The government want to give vocations some later and open the school after the August.
For Example:There is no comfort for students in the school the big class 30+ students and on 1 or 2 small fans.Thats why summer vocations is best for students and students health.
Now i would like to talk about arguments of shorter school holidays. If the slybus is high and the students don’t cover so shorter summer vocations is best but if the government make the comfort to the students. The government take AC in to the class and make green sheath in front of the door because the summer hot don’t came directly inside. The government take comfort and take care of students. So the shortest summer vocations is best for students.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development is limited. The ideas regarding student health and classroom conditions are relevant but remain underdeveloped and repetitive. The position is somewhat clear, but the lack of formal structure and the reliance on personal anecdotes rather than broader arguments prevent a higher score. The response would benefit from more detailed explanations and a more formal academic tone to fully explore the implications of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'First' and 'Now'. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the transition between ideas is often abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making the flow of the argument feel disjointed. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple terms like 'hot', 'best', and 'comfort'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'summer hot' instead of 'summer heat' and 'vocations' instead of 'vacations'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision or nuance. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations and avoiding the repetition of simple adjectives and nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'the students health goes down'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, such as the conditional structure in the second paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing after periods. A focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors is essential for improvement.
