Student answer (Band 5.0)

In few countries , primary and secondary schools are close for two months or more in the summer vacations . There are maney reasons why schools are closeing . In upcomping paragraphs i will discuss both reasons.

To begin with, When school should be close a long time then the value of school hoilday is all most zero . students can do work properly after there long school hoildays , they can not learn there study , they can free in holiday and they do not complete there work,in hoilday they sleep more and more as result after holiday they will be feel relax on physically but they will be not relax on mentally . For example, In Canada collage are close for two month and summer vacations in every year as result In every year 50 % students are fail in class because they can not ready there books in summer hoildays ,they play only game .

Furthermore , There are many benefits of shorter school holidays , firstly after short holidays children can start easily study because they feel relax in short holidays and they cannot feel bad in short holidays . For example In India goverment give short hoildays like as diwali , holi , and other holidays to students .

In conclusion , I have written diffrence in long school holidays or short school holidays.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address both parts of the prompt, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack logical depth. For instance, the claim that 50% of Canadian students fail due to summer holidays is an unsupported and unrealistic generalisation. The position is not clearly maintained throughout, and the conclusion is merely a summary of the task rather than a synthesis of your arguments. To improve, you must expand your points with logical reasoning and ensure the response meets the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', they are often used incorrectly or do not effectively link the sentences. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between ideas is hindered by repetitive phrasing and a lack of sophisticated transitions. The conclusion is very brief and does not effectively tie the essay together. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words like 'good', 'bad', and 'work'. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'maney' for 'many', 'hoilday' for 'holiday', and 'upcomping' for 'upcoming'. These errors, combined with the misuse of terms like 'relax on mentally', make the text difficult to follow at times. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms and focus on accurate spelling and word choice in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('schools are closeing'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'In Canada collage are close for two month and summer vacations in every year as result In every year 50 % students are fail'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in tense and word order. You need to focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors.
