Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays,it become a trend of summer holidays in many countries for two months. Some people believes that summer holidays are necessary but the others argue that it is a waste of time. In this essay we will discuss the value of school holidays. In my opinion, there should be a break in studies for children in sort of summer holidays.
On the one hand, people with the prespective in favour of summer holidays believe that summer holidays are vital for the students becausethey also need a break from the burden of studies. A short break can enhance their ability to learn new things. Moreover, students who lives in the hostels needs some time to go back and spend time with their loved ones. While this may be true to some extent, it also has the adverse effects.
On the other hand, the opponents would argue that the holidays should be shorter and students should spend their percious time to learn new skills. Despite of spending time on holidays schools should arrange some extra classes to complete the curriculum on the required timeline. They assert that after holidays it is difficult for the students to rearrange their schedual. government should take a look on this matter and reduce the time period of summer holidays.
In conclusion, some people argue that summer holidays are essential for the students its an excuse to take a break from their hectic routine. The others hold the opinion that the summer break leads the laziness in the students and they face problems to go to the school after a long gap.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about students needing a break is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or deeper reasoning. The position is clear, but the conclusion merely repeats the points made in the body paragraphs rather than synthesising them or providing a final thought. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand your arguments with more detailed explanations and concrete examples, ensuring that each paragraph contributes significantly to the overall discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between sentences can be abrupt. For instance, the link between the benefits of holidays and the 'adverse effects' mentioned at the end of the second paragraph is not clearly explained. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'prespective' (perspective), 'percious' (precious), and 'schedual' (schedule). Additionally, some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'leads the laziness' instead of 'leads to laziness'. To improve, focus on learning collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of common academic terms. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms for basic words like 'good' or 'bad' will also help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'it become a trend', 'students who lives', and 'students needs'. There are also punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Nowadays,it'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading your work to catch basic subject-verb agreement errors and ensure consistent punctuation throughout your writing.
