Student answer (Band 6.0)
In conventional time, school holidays were considered as value addition in children's life. The holidays lasted for more than a month can have a positive impact on child. I would like to point that if utilized for better purposes. This essay will examine both the values and the opponent arguments on long holidays.
To begin with, in many schools summer holidays can be a part of curriculum as it is long-established practice in some regions. However, it provides quality time to spend with family and even help with personal development. For instance, children in long holidays can pursue their hobby by participating in summer schools such as arts & crafts, communication skills, music and so on. Additionally, it facilitates children to maintain their skills and academics simultaneously. Consequently, this practice have been running from a long time and children get benefit from it.
Furthermore, there is a common belief that longer holidays can have detrimental effect on child's brain activity as it detached them from the academics and school curriculum. Moreover, some children's getting slower during holidays in terms of work potential. For example, in long holidays children spent more time in watching TV shows and mobile phones as it produce negative impact on their brain health. In addition, shorter holidays are useful in mitigating these kinds of activities. In fact in certain studies, it can be seen that children who are more indulged in academics, shape themselves in more disciplined way. As a results, shorter holidays are more preferable in some regions.
In conclusion, even though longer holidays can have more positive impact only if it can be utilized with purpose of betterment of child.
Ultimately, acknowledging opposing point is also important to maintain respectful and balanced approach.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention hobbies and family time, the points could be more deeply explored with more specific examples or logical consequences. The introduction is slightly vague, and the conclusion is incomplete, failing to fully synthesize the arguments presented. To reach a higher band, ensure that each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly answers the specific question asked, and ensure your conclusion provides a clear summary of your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'this practice have been running from a long time'. Additionally, the final paragraph is quite brief and lacks a strong concluding statement that ties the two sides of the argument together effectively. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring more sophisticated use of cohesive devices would improve the score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some relevant topic-specific terms like 'curriculum', 'academics', and 'detrimental effect'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'value addition in children's life' and 'work potential'. There is also some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider range of academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'this practice have been running' (subject-verb agreement), 'some children's getting slower' (incorrect verb form), and 'as it produce negative impact' (tense error). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction. To achieve a higher band, focus on ensuring subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage, and aim for more error-free complex structures.
