Student answer (Band 6.0)
There is a ongoing debate regarding long and short school holidays . A group of individuals believe that every school should have longer holidays . However others argue that shorter school holidays are more beneficial for the students . Therefore ahead of my opinion , both the views will be discussed further .
Examining the former opinion , the primary argument the supporters would put forward is that if the scholls provide longer period holidays to children then they can plan to visit different states or even different countries with thier families as they have plenty of time for that . Moreover , longer holidays also allows students to chill and relax from studies for more time as some students really feel it so streeful to study all the year . It will help them to participate in outdoor games and also good for mental health as they can enjoy the summer with friends and neighbours .
On the contrary , those in favour of shorter period holidays believes that students could get spoiled when they have too much free time from school as some childrens got habbit of using mobile phones and computer , they spent most of their time in playing games rather than go outside and they have got excuse that it is hot outside .
To conclude and offer my position , there are convincing arguments both for and against the holiday period . However , i certainly favour the foremost point that longer holidays are best for children as it can help keep their mental health in good place . Although the study is beneficial for them but it is really very important for children to enjoy the summer playing and doing activities instead of studying all year .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the value of long school holidays and the arguments in favour of shorter ones, whilst also providing a clear personal position in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant, such as family travel and relaxation for the former view, and excessive screen time for the latter. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on screen time lacks specific examples or broader consequences. The position is clear throughout, but the depth of support places this response comfortably at Band 6.0 according to the task achievement criteria.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure including an introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'Examining the former opinion', 'Moreover', and 'On the contrary'. However, referencing and cohesion are at times mechanical or faulty, as seen in awkward transitional phrasing like 'Therefore ahead of my opinion'. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, though paragraph breaks and sentence boundary punctuation contain minor mechanical issues. Overall organisation is logical enough to ensure smooth progression, justifying a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common phrases such as 'streeful', 'neighbour', and 'spoiled'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'ongoing', 'scholls', 'thier', 'streeful', 'childrens', 'habbit', and 'spent'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7.0. The vocabulary used is minimally adequate to convey the intended meaning, which aligns well with the descriptors for Band 5.5 to 6.0, settling at a solid 5.5 due to frequency of spelling slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing conditional or multi-clause structures such as 'if the scholls provide longer period holidays to children then they can plan to visit...'. However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors, including missing articles ('a ongoing debate', 'the study is beneficial'), subject-verb agreement issues ('childrens got habbit', 'believes' instead of 'believe'), and awkward spacing around punctuation marks. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally decipherable and communication is rarely impeded, reflecting the characteristics of Band 5.5.
