Student answer (Band 5.0)
Most of the countries in our Asia follow up this vacation system. My country Pakistan is also included in it. I have also experienced this time in my primary and middle schooling. I was very fond of studying so it was very difficult for me to study in my vacations because of no teacher guide.
From my view point, this vacational time must be reduced from months to weeks so that the students who want to study and want to keep their decipline maintained will not face hurdles. Because these vacation make the student too lazy and put them on long distance from studies.
As in our region, the students prefer to play all the free time that they have. They totally neglect the concept of studies and after the reopening of schools they face serious complications while studying. And this is the right of our government to take precautions in this case because these students are the future of our country.
Government sgould take different measures to overcome this problem. As in summers the temperature is at its peak level in Asian countries so along with vacation they must originate the system of online studies means study from home so that the students stay home and stay safe as well as they must give a part of their day to studies. The other way is to shift the timmings to night time if there is any possibility.
By taking such actions, the consequences will be different which they will have the positive impact on students and it is very quintessential plan for all of us.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the value of long school holidays and the arguments for shorter ones. The writer presents a clear position that holidays should be reduced to prevent laziness and loss of study habits, drawing on personal experience and regional context. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies heavily on personal opinion and generalization. For instance, the discussion on the value of long holidays is brief and framed almost entirely around the writer's own difficulties, while the arguments for shorter holidays focus primarily on weather conditions and online classes rather than a balanced academic analysis. Consequently, the task is addressed adequately, but the depth of support places the response firmly in the band 6 category.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs with an identifiable overall structure, moving from an introduction to arguments and suggested solutions. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward referencing and abrupt transitions. For example, starting the second paragraph with 'From my view point, this vacational time must be reduced...' follows an introduction that focuses on personal background rather than outlining the essay's direction. Furthermore, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or repetitive, such as the overuse of 'because' and 'so', and the pronoun referencing in sentences like 'the consequences will be different which they will have the positive impact' is unclear. Paragraphing is attempted, but paragraph unity and cohesion require significant strengthening to achieve a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical resource is adequate for communicating the basic message, but it shows significant limitations and frequent inaccuracies. The writer uses some relevant topic vocabulary such as 'primary and secondary schools', 'vacation system', and 'online studies'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'follow up this vacation system' instead of 'observe this vacation schedule', 'no teacher guide' instead of 'teacher guidance', and 'put them on long distance from studies' instead of 'disconnect them from their studies'. Additionally, spelling and morphological errors, such as 'decipline' and 'timmings', restrict the score. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but errors occasionally impede clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include missing articles and prepositions ('Most of the countries in our Asia', 'in my vacations'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Government sgould take', 'these vacation make'), and awkward relative clauses ('the consequences will be different which they will have the positive impact'). Punctuation is generally basic, and run-on sentences or fragments sometimes appear. While simple sentences are often clear, attempts at more complex structures frequently result in faulty syntax and reduced accuracy, aligning with the descriptors for band 5.
